OUR HISTORY

Diesel & Auto Electric is a locally owned and operated auto parts distributor and retailer focusing on top-quality service and products. In addition, the company has provided top tier fleet service to Nova Scotians since the company was founded in 1980 by Charles "Bas" McManus and Norman Melanson. Entering the market as a specialty electrical and HD turbo repair shop, the two men had a strong reputation in their local industry for being among the finest in their field. Word spread quickly of their venture, and the electrical service business grew rapidly and branched into electrical parts retailing by 1988. Now the two men who began the business together found themselves selling batteries, alternators and starters as a compliment to their service work. 

In the mid 1990's, the company established an auto parts division that would rival many auto parts stores in the area. Today the company offers many leading auto parts brands thanks to alliances with ACDelco and Uni-Select. The company began with its founders being the only employees of the business and has grown today to employ over 25 people from that same location built over 40 years ago. Today Diesel and Auto Electric is operated by Andrew Inman, and Bas' grandson Andrew Warner, focusing on the principles the company was founded upon: a customer centric approach, focusing on fair pricing, quality parts and dependable service.
